Post-Tensioning Inspection and Rehabilitation of the I-526 Wando River Bridge
The bridge is a vital connector between Charleston SC, its neighboring communities, and the state?s largest port facility. It was opened in 1991 and is a set of dual structures with each having a total length of 7,900ft with a max span length of 400ft. Post-tensioned segmental construction with precast segments was used for both the superstructure and the piers. This workshop will present a review of the post-tensioning assessment and key remediation and repair activities completed, including the installation of supplemental tendons and segment joint repairs.
